Donating to Hospitality House

Dear families of Walled Lake,

Have you ever imagined coming home and worrying about not having any food to feed you or your family? Well, there are people that worry about not having food every day. Imagine, if that was you, wouldn’t you want to know that there are people that donate food so you don’t starve? People need to donate food or time to charities such as Hospitality House.
Many people can’t afford food for their families. In just eight months Hospitality House has assisted over 4,000 children! People don’t always have enough money to donate food. If you’re someone who can’t give food, you can donate some of your time. Hospitality House needs volunteers to assist clients, stock shelves, help with food drives and many other things.
All communities have people who are in need. In just 9 months , Hospitality House assisted 4,368 families, 10,900 individuals, 4,059 children and has had 199,858 pounds of food donated! I don’t know about you but that’s a lot of people that have to be assisted and a lot of food donated. If you add up all of the people who were assisted it equals 19,327 people assisted (that’s just in eight months.)
When you donate food to Hospitality House it’s not just helping the needy it’s helping you to become a better person. About 2 weeks ago the entire 5th grade at my school went to Hospitality House. We were able to donate 970 pounds of food! It felt great to be able to know that we were helping other people who can’t afford food. Now I want to go back and be able to feel the same way. You can’t just pretend that you helped someone and feel good. You have to actually help people.
People need help now more than ever! Right now Michigan’s economy is really low. People are losing their jobs. When people lose their jobs it causes them to become needy. More and more people are losing their jobs every day. People need help and it’s up to us to give it to them.
What if you were in need of food, wouldn’t you want to have people helping you? If the answer is “yes” then go out and donate some time or food. You can even make financial donation. People need help and people need to donate food. If you want to donate food please donate only non-perishable food so it will be able to last a long time. Hospitality House will usually take donations on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Donate food or time to Hospitality House. It will help people that are in need.
